The Amazing Future - Touchscreens & Video Displays Everywhere

If you have 5 minutes to spare, prepared to be "wowed". Check out this amazing video from Corning, the company known for making glass fiber and glass products. The video shows what the future could look like using new high-tech glass technologies that Corning is apparently working on. In a nutshell, look for video displays to be everywhere. Even resizeable and 'movable' video displays in countertops and refrigerators are shown.

Either way, Corning has some cool things up their sleeves, and I'm sure at least a few of the ideas shown will appeal to you. Please be sure to leave comments here on what you think of the video.

Some things in the video are natural evolutions of existing technology, like video video display in countertopscreens behind bathroom mirrors and ultra thin 3D flat panel TV's. The Media Room TV they show has no bezel, it just looks like a sheet of glass! From the video, we can surmise that technology will be easier to "hide" and blend into the home's décor better. At DSI, we are big fans today of hiding technology, we think the home's architecture and interior design should take center stage, not TV's and visible electronic systems.

photovoltaic glass for privacyAnother thing I thought was great is the 'flexible display glass'...in the video the guy is showing the gal some architectural plans, and the plans are magically transferred from his futuristic phone directly to the flexible tabletop display and easily maneuvered through*. Architects and designers should love this! Likewise, the work surface and wall-format display glass shown could help with project collaboration, especially over long distances.

Perhaps photovoltaic 'dimming' glass will be the motorized shades of the future...as you will be able to infinitely control the opacity.

Basically, our future is sure to be more 'connected' than ever, but at the same time more convenient. Kudos to the creative minds at Corning.

Key Takeaway: It looks like high-tech glass products will be more a part of our daily lives than ever.
