The Kaleidescape App for iPad Available Now - Full Media Control

The long awaited Kaleidescape App for iPad has arrived and is available for free at the App store. Not only does this app offer a much higher level of control than you can get via your home automation systems (Crestron, AMX, Savant, or Control4), it also works within your iPad's control system app. See the app in action in the video above.

For those of you wondering what a Kaleidescape is, it is the ultimate media server that makes accessing your movies and music fun and easy. The Kaleidescape System stores copies of all your Blu-ray movies, DVD's, and compact discs and presents your entire collection onscreen through a clever user interface. The onscreen menus make it easy to find the perfect film and explore your movies and music like never before. The Kaleidescape System enables you to enjoy your movies at any time, in as many rooms as you choose.

The fact that you can open this app from within a your home automation app is revolutionary. Usually, when you are controlling your home theater or media room system from an iPad and you want to use a 3rd party proprietary app, such as this new Kaleidescape app, the process is a little clunky. You would need to hit your home button, open the Kaleidescape app, wait for it to connect, use the app, hit the home button, go back to your home automation app, wait for it to connect and go back to controlling your system. A lot of steps. Not any more...

With the Kaleidescape app for iPad, you can simply create a Kaleidescape icon on your control system app. Pressing the icon makes all the appropriate audio video adjustments to get the Kaleidescape player on the screen. The Kalediescape app will open in a browser window so you can have complete control over your movie and music library. If you need to make an adjustment to lights or climate, just press the "back" button on the page and you will be instantly transported back to your home automation app without needing to re-connect, press home, or anything else that you might be too impatient for.
